Welcome Homes

In the fall of 2019, The Welcome Network with a variety of local church leaders banded together to purchase a residential home that was converted into 3 apartment units for refugee families to live in while our staff works on their legal process to stay here.

In January of 2025, The Welcome Network was able to purchase a second home to be able to expand our capacity now to being able to now house 6 newcomer families at a time.

The regular length of time that a family stays in our Welcome Homes is from 12-18 months.  Our volunteer network acts as a support system to our families to help them acculturate to living in S Chicagoland / NW Indiana, finding jobs, learning English, & adjusting to new life in a new home after painfully leaving their original home.

Help us maintain safe, welcoming spaces for newcomer families through hands-on volunteer projects and material support.

Help a Child Begin the School Year with Confidence

For most children, the first day of school is exciting—a chance to learn, make friends, and begin a new year. But for children living in our Welcome Homes, it often comes after a season of tremendous change. Many of these children have recently arrived in the United States after leaving behind their homes, schools, and communities. As they adjust to a new language, culture, and environment, something as simple as having new school clothes can make a meaningful difference. It helps them walk into the classroom with confidence, feel like they belong, and focus on learning instead of worrying about what they are wearing. This August, The Welcome Network is collecting donations to provide school clothes for children living in our Welcome Homes. Your generosity helps ensure that every child can begin the school year with dignity, confidence, and hope.
