🌱 Amal for Children

Amal for Children is a resilience-building program designed to support children who have experienced war, forced displacement, loss, trauma, or other significant life challenges.

Through storytelling, creative activities, games, small-group conversations, and meaningful relationships, children develop healthy coping skills, build self-confidence, and discover new ways to navigate difficult emotions.

Our hope is that every child leaves feeling safer, more connected, and more hopeful about the future.

Our First Amal for Children Program

This summer, The Welcome Network had the privilege of hosting its first Amal for Children program in partnership with dedicated volunteers, churches, and community leaders. Over the course of one week, 18 children participated in activities focused on resilience, friendship, creativity, and emotional well-being.

For many of the children, the week became a place where they could laugh, learn, build new friendships, and discover that they are not alone.

A Reflection from Our Team

As Swieta Syrota, Church & Community Engagement Co-Lead, shared after the program:

"The Amal program was a wonderful experience. It was truly encouraging to watch the children gradually open up, see things from new perspectives, and feel comfortable sharing their thoughts. The most meaningful part was seeing even a small seed of hope, understanding, and encouragement planted in their hearts. We sincerely believe these small moments can become the beginning of lasting, positive change in their lives."

Thank You

This program was made possible through the generosity of volunteers, churches, facilitators, families, and community partners who gave their time, talents, and encouragement throughout the week.

Thank you for helping create a place where children could experience hope, healing, and belonging.

Looking Ahead

The Welcome Network hopes to continue offering Amal for Children in the years ahead, expanding opportunities for children and families to grow in resilience and discover communities of welcome. If you'd like to learn more about future programs or opportunities to volunteer, we'd love to hear from you.
